Its 10 out of 10 from us. Firstly, the product. We spent many years researching external cladding for use in a residential application where it would not fade or deteriorate. We purchased a number of samples and left them outside for extended periods. In all other cladding tested, the “graining” was achieved by dying or printing the grain onto the board which faded within weeks of exposure to the sun. Those other cladding boards also absorbed the water, so when it rained it would go dark in places and then when it dried it left a horrible tide mark. However, the New Tech Wood Ultrashield cladding remained unchanged after 3 years of exposure. The sample we left outside had not warped, faded or discoloured in the heat of the summer or the freezing temperatures of winter. We were a little concerned that it would look too uniform but in reality, and even up close, it looks like Oak. Although the product colour used is called Red Cedar on their website. So, if you love the look of honeyed wood but hate the black rotten or silver effect after it has aged, this is the product for you. There are other companies that have a similar product but they did not have the colour we wanted and we found their finish to treacly. As far as I am aware, Maple Plastics are the only UK company that stock this product. The company were fantastic to deal with. Mike Harrington was very knowledgeable about the product and managed to secure a great price for us. It was reassuring that they are a UK based company who have been around for years. We could not be more pleased with the finish (photos do not do it justice and the colours are more random/mixed not as uniformed as it is seen in the pictures.)
